A Spotted Flycatcher was the best of a Top Scrub ringing session this morning, with a Wheatear on Carr Naze, 39 Sandwich and 44 Common Tern on the Brigg (and 56 north), an Arctic Skua south at Gristhorpe Bay (where the returning Curlew flock is already up to 25 and at least 40 Grey Seals were in the water at high tide), and a juvenile Mediterranean Gull passed the Gap, where 10 Whimbrel, a Tree Pipit, 12 Yellow Wagtails and six Grey Wagtails went south and 70 tree Sparrows went north.

Highlights over sea yesterday (24th) were a Sooty Shearwater and three Arctic Skuas south, a Bonxie north and 25 Common Terns, while visible migration at the Gap included a Marsh Harrier and 40 Tree Sparrows south and 370 Swallows and 12 Yellow Wagtails north, with three Spotted Flycatchers present; finch congregations included 150 Goldfinch there and 250 on Carr Naze.
