The strong south-easterly wind dropped considerably as the day wore on, and heavy rain became intermittent with misty and occasionally brighter spells – promising conditions, which (while rarities elude us for the time being) produced a quality cast of classic autumnal migrants in the northern coastal area.

Final totals included a minimum of tenĀ Yellow-browed Warblers, 12 Ring Ouzels, three Short-eared Owls, a Jack Snipe, 12 Bramblings, 130 Song Thrushes, 65 Redwings, 15 Robins, three Wheatears, seven Chiffchaffs, 20 Siskin, 15 Redpolls and single Stonechat and Whinchat.
