Barnacle Geese (Mark Pearson)

Barnacle Geese (Mark Pearson)

Hard work in promising but challenging conditions today, despite dawn to dusk coverage. Strong south-easterlies and heavy showers didn’t quite deliver as hoped, but did provide a total of 33 Barnacle Geese south over the sea, the first Ring Ouzel of the autumn (in off late on), a Short-eared Owl, a Whinchat, a Wheatear, 230 Redwings, 65 Song Thrushes, five Chiffchaffs and a Yellow-browed Warbler. At least one Kingfisher remained on the Brigg.
