The best of a relatively modest cast of migrants on the land today was a Firecrest in Top Scrub (MJP, PJD), with 75 Goldcrests, 25 Redwings, 30 Song Thrushes and seven Chiffchaffs also scattered. Two Short-eared Owls were over the Dams, while a third came in off at the Brigg, and a fourth came in at the Gap, where two Sooty Shearwaters, a Pomarine Skua and five Velvet Scoters also passed (KC). A late Willow Warbler was among birds trapped this morning.
