An otherwise fairly quiet five hours or so on the sea this morning (trickles of terns, common waders, Manxies and Common Scoters notwithstanding) produced several isolated highlights, the best of which were a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull over the hut (MJP), an adult Mediterranean Gull over Carr Naze (JS) and an adult Pomarine Skua south (JS, MJP).

Checks of the boxes at several sites in the area revealed an absence of any Barn Owl chicks this year (despite the regular presence of adults as usual); Stock Doves were however breeding in two of the boxes, with fledglings ringed at Dams and East Lea.
