8th May 2015
Early sunshine and westerly winds steadily became cloud and south-easterlies (and later heavy rain), with a few migrants in the Carr Naze / Brigg area including fresh-in singles of Black Redstart, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff and Wheatear (MJP) and 134 Sandwich Terns north in 90 minutes this afternoon. 90 Sand Martins (a peak count in the fog), Three Dunlin and a Common Sandpiper were at the Dams, while single Yellow and White Wagtails were at East Lea.
Yesterday was quiet, with a similar cast at the Dams and East Lea, odd Wheatears scattered and a report of a Short-eared Owl over the bay. The last few days have seen (or more often heard) Cuckoos still present in the Country Park and Dams areas.
