Water Vole at the Dams this morning (Mark Pearson)

Water Vole at the Dams this morning (Mark Pearson) – thanks to everyone who packed out the Evron Centre for our talk last night – this is what happens when you complain about Water Vole views!

Another quiet week or so, with an often strong westerly / south-westerly airflow keeping expectations low. A Glaucous Gull was off the Brigg this morning, where a blue Fulmar went north on 9th and three did likewise on 10th – part of a continuing strong movement of the Fulmars, which included 3800 past the Gap and 2400 past the Brigg on the latter date. The 10th also saw five Bean Geese (presumably the same birds that were present on 4th) at several sites along the area’s coastline.

10 Rock Pipits and 10 Snipe were in the Carr Naze / Rocket Pole field this morning, and two Mute Swans have returned to East Lea, where 60 Wigeon came in; the male Tufted Duck, six Gadwall and 20 Teal were joined by three Shovelers at the Dams.
