30th September 2014
A warm and sunny end to the month after a murky start this morning, with the pick being a Firecrest in the Top Scrub with a passerine feeding flock (MJP) and a Great Northern Diver with 35 Red-throated Divers off Hunmanby Gap this afternoon (KC). 18 Goldcrests and six Chiffchaffs were also recorded, while 15 Reed Buntings, 140 Linnets, 35 Skylarks and 240 Goldfinches were in the Top Fields / Tip area. Single Jays came in off the sea today and yesterday (29th), which was otherwise quiet but for a total of 65 Pink-footed Geese in several flocks heading south, and a dark-bellied Brent Goose in the bay.
