14th August

The last couple of days have seen further Tern activity on the Brigg – following the three Roseates on Monday there was a juvenile Black Tern present today and yesterday, while five Little Terns flew south yesterday (15th).  Otherwise the sea has been quiet, with odd Manx Shearwaters and Arctic Skuas the only birds of note.

A Greenshank was on the Brigg today and a Whinchat reported from Carr Naze on 13th, East Lea held a Little Egret, while two Green Sandpipers, a Common Sandpiper and 4 Snipe were at the Dams today. Two Green Sandpipers flying over the pools at The Bay Development at Hunmanby Gap yesterday were a welcome, if overdue patch tick for one local birder.
