11th June 2014

Conditions looked promising for the possibility of cetaceans today, and the first Minke Whale of the year duly appeared within ten minutes of observations this afternoon; a total of three were recorded by 1800hrs (MJP, AJD). A pair of summer plumage Long-tailed Ducks were off the Brigg end in the afternoon (belatedly also reported from yesterday). At the Dams, twos of Shelduck, Curlew and Teal are amongst the commoner summer residents, while a Hobby hunted over Hunmanby Gap on 10th.
