6th March 2014

Up to eight Little Gulls and a single Velvet Scoter were in the bay off Hunmanby Gap this morning, while the long-staying moulting adult Little Gull continues its patrolling of the Brigg.

Yesterday (5th) a Black Redstart was around the Country Park entrance – either a new bird, or possibly the same seen nearby a few days ago – and other passerines have included encouraging trickles of finches (particularly Linnets) and alba Wagtails.

Pink-footed Geese are on the move daily of late, with over 300 this morning and 146 (in two parties over the Dams) yesterday.

Gadwall, Teal, Tufted Duck, Mallard and are all in double figures at the Dams (where Water Voles have been reasonably co-operative near the pond-dipping platform over recent days) and up to three Lesser black-backed Gulls, including at least one adult intermedius, have dropped in with loafing congeners there.
