28th February 2014

The month closed with the usual suspects frequenting the bay, with the Slavonian Grebe patrolling its favoured stretch of shore (seen off Hunmanby Gap, the Glen and Primrose Valley today from early morning to dusk); Velvet Scoters off the Gap and off the Glen; up to ten Little Gulls well scattered; and 120 Red-throated Divers were in the area this evening.

New additions included a Small Tortoiseshell (the first of the year) at Parish Wood and a male Stonechat on the cliff path at the Tip (a welcome record of a surprising rare bird of late).
