12th January 2014

A rare overnight frost and a bright morning with some signs of movement: 10 Whooper Swans flew south over the bay and 141 Pink-footed Geese flew north over the Dams, where a 1st-winter Lesser Black-backed gull and a Chiffchaff were new in.

Up to 70 Snow Buntings are still in the top fields and the Velvet Scoter flock now numbers 10 in the south of the bay, while duck numbers at the Dams include 94 Teal, 52 Wigeon, 70 Mallard, and two Barnacle Geese with the feral flocks.

Recent news: a Blue Fulmar and 41 Pink-footed Geese flew by on the 10th, and two Water Rails were calling at the Dams on 9th.
