Today’s highlights came from the sea this afternoon and evening, with a fine cast of scarcities including a pristine adult summer-plumage Sabine’s Gull, five Black Terns, a Red-necked Grebe, a Velvet Scoter and a Sooty Shearwater (MJP). A Curlew Sandpiper at the Dams was the fifth local record this year, a Marsh Harrier went north early on, and a total of eight Common Buzzards moved through (also north).
