Icterine Warbler, Top Scrub (c Mark Pearson)

Icterine Warbler, Top Scrub (c Mark Pearson)

A rich and varied day of migration which almost ended without a scarcity on the land, but all ended well with an Icterine Warbler at the death in the Top Scrub (MJP). Otherwise, the sea took the prizes for quality, with a Cory’s Shearwater and two Balearic Shearwaters (JS, BP, JH) early and an adult Long-tailed Skua and fourĀ Black Terns (MJP) late morning.

Migrants were once again arriving all day, with final estimates of 20+ Pied Flycatchers, 15 Whinchats, 10 Wheatears, 30 Willow Warblers, ten Lesser Whitethroats, five Chiffchaffs, two Redstarts, a Tree Pipit and a Spotted Flycatcher.
